Helen + Jeremy | Engagement Session

Couples

Many of my photo shoots, I go in with a very good idea of how they will go, where we will go, and the exact purpose of the session – typically an engagement session or a wedding.

I’ve photographed many proposals as well, however whenever I have photographed one, I always knew in advance that the boyfriend would be proposing, and ahead of the shoot I would calm my excitement and hold in the tears while he’s down on one knee (although let’s be honest – I still cry every time regardless hahaha).

WELL, I went into Helen and Jeremy’s photo shoot with the idea that it would be a couple’s session. For some reason, the thought of Jeremy proposing crossed my mind, but I brushed it off immediately thinking to myself “no, he would definitely have told you if he was going to propose!” So I brushed away the idea and went on with the session.

Our photo shoot was at Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder, Colorado, and ohhhh my goodness was it the most perfect day. The sun was just starting to set, there was a very light breeze on that Saturday in December, and I was obsessing over how stinkin’ CUTE these two are and what naturals they were in front of the camera.

I had them go on the very tip of the lookout because the view was ALLLL the heart-eye emoji’s. I gave direction, and went a bit away to get just the right angle.

About one minute into this, as I was snapping photo after photo, I suddenly noticed Jeremy get down on one knee, and Helen’s hands immediately over her mouth as tears began streaming down the sides of her cheeks.

Immediately I verbally said “OH MY GOSH!!!!!” And I couldn’t seem to stop saying that and then I was crying right along with them. WOW, this moment went down as one of the top most special, beautiful moments of my entire life.

I later on found out that Jeremy had tried to message me on Instagram to let me know, and he didn’t notice until that morning that the message hadn’t gone through. He sent an additional message that morning, but my phone had died right up until our photo shoot, so I hadn’t seen the message (hence why it was a surprise for me too).

I think God worked it out that way though. It almost seemed that much more special, and even more of a bonding experience that it was a surprise for me as well, because we were all in it together and sharing happy tears right there on the top of that mountain.

I couldn’t stop thanking God for bringing Jeremy and Helen into my life, and I’m still pinching myself thinking it had to have been a dream.

And I cried a few weeks later when they officially booked me as their photographer for their wedding.

No joke, I was at the gym exercising and received a text from Helen, and instantly had tears + people all around staring. LOL, it was worth every.stare.

Jeremy and Helen are getting married on August 30th of this year, and I.CANNOT.CONTAIN.MY.EXCITEMENT.!!!!

Their wedding will take place at Space Gallery in Denver, Colorado, and I am itching to photograph inside of this beautiful venue!

These two are a simple reminder to me that God truly does bring the most perfect individuals into our lives when we least expect it. And I’m so beyond words thankful that He chose Helen and Jeremy to be a part of my life.

xoxo
