Replacing That Four-Letter Word With That Three-Letter Word

Couples, What's On The Heart

There’s a four letter word out there that I’m convinced is straight poison to our brains.

That word is “can’t.”

I came to this realization recently. I was with a mentor of mine, was having a particularly hard day, and was speaking to him. I was trying to convince him that “I can’t do that. I’m not good enough.”

He had me pause right there and said “we don’t say that word. Can’t isn’t in our vocabularies.” And his words were a wake-up call.

He constantly tells me that there are no limits in this world, the only limitations we have are the limitations we put on ourselves.

So I began attempting to keep track of every time I said the word “can’t,” and in doing so, quickly realized how often I use the word. And we all use it without even realizing that each and every time it comes out of our mouths, it’s placing limitations and restrictions on ourselves.

We say things like:

“I can’t lose weight – I don’t have enough willpower.”

“I can’t travel there. It’s too unknown for me.”

“I can’t make that meal; I don’t have time.”

“I can’t go to church. I don’t have time.”

“I can’t complete this task – it’s not a skill I have.”

The list goes on and on and on and it’s a constant cycle of using that poison-filled word.

can

Friend, if we don’t begin saying “I CAN do this,” then how do we ever expect to live those dreams of ours?

We should be saying things like “I CAN do that. It may take time, but I’m willing to put in that time.”

Friend, there are no limits in this world. We literally ALL have to start somewhere. So begin, and dive into that dream of yours and believe that you CAN make it a reality.

Let’s eliminate that four-letter word from our vocabularies, and replace it with that three-letter word: “can.”

YOU CAN accomplish those dreams. You CAN have that dream job. You CAN show up on time. You CAN shed those extra inches. You CAN travel to that destination. You CAN develop that skill. You CAN do it, friend.

I believe in you. And you should too.

xoxo
