One of the number one questions I get asked from my future brides is “what is the benefit to having a second photographer for my wedding??”
I feel like so many of you ladies are told to get the package with a second photographer, but you’re never even told why to get one or what the benefits are to having one.
So I’m here to tell you all of the benefits that come with having a second shooter as a part of that special day of yours.
First off, I’d just like to say that I have done weddings both ways: by myself, as well as with an additional photographer by my side, and they’re both great. I am able to get all of the best shots both solo and with an additional shooter, but I will say there are quite a few pros to having that additional shooter as a part of your special day, so here are five reasons for you.
1. When my second shooter comes along with me to photograph the wedding of your dreams, there are more angles covered. I’m talking more facials you get to see, more side views, arial views, and close ups. Because there are two of us tag-teaming it.
2. When there are two photographers, I always place one of us on the bride, one on the groom the entire way the bride is walking down the aisle. That way every part of the two reactions are captured to look back on for forever.
3. Your second photographer doubles up as my assistant. It’s super helpful having that second photographer there by my side, especially for during family photos. I always have a list of all of the family members that my couples want pictures with after the ceremony, and my second photographer reads off each name, and does it as I’m photographing the individuals before. So it then becomes a very smooth sailing process and goes by twice as quickly and twice as pain-free.:)
4. For bridal party photos after the ceremony, I have my second photographer take one group aside (the bride or groom), as I take the other. That way, it once again goes by twice as quickly, we’re able to have more time with each group, and most importantly? We can get to that party ASAP!
5. DOUBLE THE FUN! I train my second photographers to have my eye, creativity, and you can guarantee double the energy, bubbly-ness, and happy tears right along with you two for the happiest day of your life.
So in my opinion? Invest in that second photographer. It is an investment that you won’t regret, and one that will give you those memories to cherish for your entire happily ever after.
